Why should the world end in 2012?             Come, December 21, 2012 we will all know if the world is really going to end or not. Whenever we find out that there is an earth quake or any disaster somewhere, we attribute it to the world ending. So what will happen to our future plans? Leave future goals! Will our new-year plans materialize at least? Or will we know if we have passed or failed in our exams before the world ends? (If the world is really going to end, who cares about these things!!). And what about our favorite films releasing after December 21? Will we get to watch those before the world ends? ( a hardcore movie buff’s worry!) .Each one of us will have some list like this before we depart from this world. But now do we have enough time to ‘do our ten things before we die’? We may worry about these things just because we know how close the world is going to end.             Well some of us would be happy that we need not meet any more deadlines or even

The Olympic Oath                       The eminent sports ritual has come to an end. And India was able to savor something which it never did in the past-Six medals from six champions. These medals, this celebration has come at the right time for us, just before our Independence Day.           Starting with, Gagan Narang opened the account for India not just by winning bronze but by winning many hearts. Following up this was Vijay Kumar who carried silver and sent the message to the world that perseverance is the key to success no matter where you are.  An unassailable Saina assured us another medal. Well another woman champion, Mary Kom was not far behind as she gave us the sweetest medal. Yogeshwar Dutt added another one to our kitty. The flag bearer’s consistency ensured that we didn’t go empty handed on the last day.           But for a nation of 1.2 billion people, the participation itself was meager even considering the fact that the number of medals we achieved w

An Era of Sunshine                                Scorching above normal everyday, the seering sun never tires. With its intensity becoming only higher every day, I wonder where it gets all its energy from. A day out in this sunshine would be described by many in many ways. For instance  if you ask my mother she would say it is similar to showing a hot steaming bowl of water to one's face every minute or if you ask me I would say it is like sitting inside a hot lava.Well, some people do make hay while the sun shines.Ranging from air conditioners to hand fans, fresh juices to water packets, coolers to kerchiefs every thing sell like hot cakes.                              A day the sun may have hidden behind the clouds but its heat wave is sure to shower its fury on us unhindered. "Come what may" has become the attitude of the sun that it never fails to turn up for work. Indeed a lot of things to be learnt fr

Here is an iota of my imagination...hope you like reading it...   A Drop!                          A serene seashore with buffeting waves, hitting the rocks hard-An indication of an impending cyclone. But the seashore was not found to be unoccupied.By the side of the jagged rocks were a group of small boys half clad in trousers playing unmindful.Along the shore was a young girl strolling at the edge of the sea.She did not seem to be delighted about the pleasant ambience around her, rather walked the way she mused.                                             Swiftly the wind blew so rough that the balloon sellers began stowing away their belongings. At the same moment a family which had picnicked there also started vacating. The clock in the neighbouring lighthouse banged six times but looked as though it was nearing midnight.Presently there were none barring the group of small boys and the girl.                             All of

An Ode To The Women Of This World! A wish, a prayer, a whim                                            In every lass's heart that swims Of creating, conquering and care-taking, Of thyself, thy clan and thy folk ring. With grief in her heart, and grin on her lips, With tears in her eyes, and radiance on her countenance, With briny beads on her visage, and a consoling color, She lives, labors and leaves her life for all. A wish to garnish her gratitude,                                A prayer to reminisce her rectitude, A whim to salute her sacrifice, And a dream for a day to get her slice. A janitor, a lover, a sister, A mother, a consort, an aide, At home and at calling, She slogs for all and sundry barring herself. ...

A CREDULOUS CREATION                                                                                                                                 As the train left, she capered in. Along arrived her mother and her tiny-tot carrying a tin, Everyone stared at them, like someone who committed a sin, Unaware of her gift as a muffin, Brawny was her face, sans any beauty, Sullied were tresses, sans any swirls. Torn was her gown, sans any trim. So fledgling was she, sans any fantasies. To and fro,she squashed herself in a ring. Badgered her mother, again to beg and sing. Sequel of which her mind, certain to wing. Yet that's all her destiny could bring. With a plate in her hand, and fear in her eyes, With the hunger to eat,and the desire to live. Off she grabbed a nibble from my hand, And kept me thinking of her thorny life time and again.....

HELLO.....Mr. ANONYMOUS                      For years, we have talked through the advent of technology, whether it is a boon or a bane. And the origination of cell phones is not peculiar to this. Though I am not here to pronounce that cell phones are downright a bane, yet it is blessed with its fair share of drawbacks. And one such is people calling from wrong numbers, who bother you sometimes and these incognito people make hay with any class of contemporary technology.                      I would say that there are two categories of people who make anonymous calls. One who do it inadvertently and the other intentionally. We will pass over the initial bracket in the light of their innocence. But the subsequent category hassle us quite a deal. I think myriad of people would concur with me as they would have faced this at some juncture. SOME TYPICAL INSTANCES                      To commence with we used to get a call recurrently inquiring for a person
